Vision, Values & Action

…to Improve Our Communities

Who We Are

We are an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Gulf Coast Interfaith (GCI) is an interfaith and interracial coalition of individuals, congregations and community organizations located along the Texas Gulf Coast.

GCI was founded in 2004 as an affiliate of The Metropolitan Organization (TMO) in Houston. TMO is a member of the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), the oldest and largest community organizing network in the United States. GCI was instrumental in creating, organizing and advocacy efforts of Galveston County Restore and Rebuild (GCR2), a coalition of 25 national and local organizations which helped rebuild hundreds of homes throughout Galveston County after Hurricane Ike made landfall in 2008.

What We Do

GCI engages in leadership development, community organizing, and advocacy as we work together to improve our communities.

GCI was also instrumental in founding the Galveston County Collaborative Organizations and Galveston Living Wage Study Group.
